Fog formation can cause severe corrosion and emission problems in industrial wet scrubbing processes, such as flue gas cleaning plants. Detailed knowledge on fog characteristics supports the technical solution of emerging problems. As liquid droplets react sensitively to changes in temperature and pressure, most particle size measurement techniques are not applicable. The three wavelength extinction technique is a non-interfering optical method which allows in situ measurements.
