Laboratory and simulation characterisation of light oil air injection
This paper reviews the results of a laboratory work and the follow-up numerical simulation study that were carried out to characterise both the fluids and the reaction scheme for a Light Oil Air Injection (LOAI) project. Two flue gas (15% CO2, 85% N-2) corefloods and two combustion tube tests at two different pressures were conducted. The oil had a gravity of 32.7 degrees API. The coreflood tests and the combustion tube results were successfully history matched using compositional simulators. The results of this study were used in a compositional thermal model to investigate the suitability of air injection into West Hackberry field in Louisiana.
