Derivatives of 3-ethyl-3-(hydroxymethyl)oxetane (trimethylolpropane oxetane), potentially useful in cationic W-curable formulations, were prepared by the simple acid-catalyzed addition of alcohols to l-alkenyl ethers. Examples include several difunctional oxetane derivatives along with one fluorinated and one acryloylated oxetane derivative. These new materials may find use as reactive diluents or binders in several applications. A preliminary assessment of the curing was made. (C) 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
