When moulds are constructed for multi-component injection mouldings, it is difficult to specify the cavity dimensions on account of the shrinkage that occurs, and few empirical values are available. In most cases, a large number of tests are necessary when sampling moulds. A new study of short-time shrinkage provides characteristic values for use in mould design.
