The Lipase-Catalyzed Synthesis of Carbamoyloxyethyl Methacrylate
The first example of an enzymatic synthesis of 2-carbamoyloxyethyl methacrylate by a lipase-catalyzed transesterification of 2-hydroxyethylcarbamate with vinyl methacrylate in organic solvent is reported. Using the lipase PS-30 from the Pseudomonas species under optimal conditions, a temperature of 50 degrees C and a solvent mixture (3:1) toluene/THF, carbamoyloxyethyl methacrylate is produced at a quantitative yield in 72 hours.
