Using a combination of sucrose (70 g/L), nitrate (30 mM), inorganic phosphate (1.5 mM), gibberellic acid (5 mg/L) and the ratio of N-red (NH4+) to Nox-(NO3-) (1:5), artemisinin production was increased to 550 mg/L when the cultures of Artemisia annua L hairy root were elicited with a homogenate of Aspergillus oryzae.
