The effect of mixing time on the rheological, mechanical, and morphological properties of poly(vinyl chloride)-epoxidized natural rubber blends
The mixing characteristics of 50/50 poly(vinyl chloride)-epoxidized natural rubber (PVC-ENR) blends were studied using a Brabender Plasticorder, and their relationships with the morphological and mechanical properties were examined. In general, it was observed that the mixing time is important in acquiring blends having optimum mechanical properties. Also, through careful appraisal of the respective plastograms and their relationships with dynamic mechanical, morphological, and tensile properties, attainment of optimum mixing conditions can be estimated, which results in optimum blends being prepared.
