Scalar Transport Characteristics of the Linear-Eddy Model
The properties of the linear-eddy model (LEM) are investigated by applying it to the problem of plume dispersion from a line source in homogeneous turbulence. It is concluded that the LEM performs better than previously reported if the decay of the turbulence is taken into account. Also noted is an apparently unphysical characteristic of the LEM that results in a single realization of the stochastic model yielding results, at late times, equivalent to a temporal average.
