On the optimum heat exchanger sizing for heat recovery
A thermoeconomic optimization analysis is presented yielding simple algebraic formulas for estimating the optimum heat exchanger area for energy recovery applications. The Pi-Pr method is used in the present study, together with the well known Effectiveness-NTU method, for thermoeconomic analyses of three different unmixed type heat exchangers, i.e, countercurrent flow, parallel flow and single fluid or phase change.
