Energy carriers and energy conversion processes are sometimes evaluated wrongly even by experts, because the contents of the Second Law of Thermodynamics have not been taken into account. The authors point to these problems and provide criteria which enable the determination of the valency of energy carriers as well as the evaluation of energy conversion processes.
