Solid fuels will also be the most important energy carriers for power stations in the far future. For economic as well as CO2 reduction reasons, one endeavours to increase the efficiencies of coal-fired power stations. The authors investigate the theoretically obtainable efficiencies for different power station concepts, whereby concepts already realized, as well as the ones in the development stage are considered. Altogether 10 concepts are compared with each other.
