For nine energy systems all environmental effects are recorded throughout the whole life cycle. The eco-inventories form the basis for the identification of environmentally influencing processes within an energy system. Furthermore, they form a basis for the ecological comparison of different systems for the availability of the same energy quantities at present conditions and as a basic data handbook for the making-out of product- and eco-balances of companies. In a dominance analysis for the energy technically and politically influencing variables in the different European countries are presented. The essay deals comprehensively with the methodical procedure and point to the consumption of resources occurring at the conversion of coal, as well as the environmentally influencing emissions.
