CONTRIBUTION OF THE COMBINED HEAT AND POWER PROCESS TO THE CO2 REDUCTION IN COMPARISON WITH OTHER OPTIONS
The concentrations of the climate-relevant tracer gases in the earth's atmosphere rise through anthropogenic influences, and increase the so-called green-house effect. Therefore it is the objective to carry out efficiently the required CO2 reduction technically as well as economically. For this purpose, a unified methodology is being developed which allows the comparative evaluation of reduction measures in different sectors. In this context, the contribution of the combined heat and power process (KWK) to the reduction of the emissions of greenhouse gases in comparison with other reduction options is considered. It turns out that the combined heat and power process can contribute through favourable economic values as well as through a clear reduction potential to the reduction of the emissions of greenhouse gases within the framework of a consistent reduction strategy.
