With the objective of developing a competitive technology for medium capacity c.h.p. applications on a biomass basis, an 0.5 MW trial plant for the gasification of wood/biomass in the circulating fluidized bed was constructed at the Fraunhofer Umsicht in Oberhausen. The generated gas is to be used in a gas engine combined heat and power station.
