The genus Asymmetricythere can be considered to be in lineal descent from the genus Togoina. Among the acquired characters Asymmetricythere shows a lateroventral fine ridge but the external outline is quite similar. A semi-quantitative analysis of the distortion of the theoretical ellipsoid allows the escape from subjective and literary descriptions. Combined with codification of the ornamental characters, this analysis leads to a 3-D representation and a tomographic visualization.
