Reaction of O(P-3) with alkenes: Side chain vs double bond attack
O atoms can attack either the double bond or the side chain of an alkylethene. LIF (laser-induced fluorescence) detection of O(P-3) and OH allows separate measurement of the rates of the two types of reactions. The addition to the double bond is by far the more important reaction.
