A systematic investigation of the interfacial and solution properties of a series of triblock amphiphiles with the general formula C16EO20Cn', n' = 0-16, indicates that flowerlike micelles are formed only when n' greater than or equal to 8. This is consistent with the thermodynamic calculations of the free energy of looping.
