Oligomerization of Ethylene on Platinum by a 2-Step Reaction Sequence
On Pt, substantial fractions of chemisorbed C2H4 can be converted to C3+ alkanes by subsequent hydrogenation. The absence of H-2 during chemisorption is considered as the main factor favoring C-C bonding between adosrbed species, whereas further addition permits higher alkanes to be released.
