A new structural class of lanthanide carbonates: Synthesis, properties, and X-ray structure of the one-dimensional ch sin complex [Co(NH3)(6)](6)[K-2(H2O)(10)]-[Nd-2(CO3)(8)](2)center dot 20H(2)O
The neodymium tetracarbonate complex [Co(NH3)(6)](6)-[K-2(H2O)(10)][Nd-2(CO3)(8)](2). 20H(2)O (1) has bt:en prepared and characterized. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study of 1 reveals a pseudo-one-dimensional infinite chain of nine-coordinate neodymium metal centers, each complexed by three bidentate carbonate ligands in a pseudoequatorial fashion, while a fourth bidentate carbonate group occupies an axial coordination site on each metal and acts as a mu(2)-eta(2),eta(1) bridge between adjacent chain units.
