Are tetraalkylammonium cations inserted into palladium cathodes? Formation of new palladium phases involving tetraalkylammonium halides
The cathodic behaviour of a wide variety of tetra alkylammonium halides was studied at a polished palladium cathode in aprotic dimethylformanaide. Coulometric and electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance analyses demonstrated the formation of clusters whose stoichiometry was determined, attesting to the reversible insertion of cations and anions belonging to the electrolyte into the metallic bulk.
