Incorporation of terephthalate and benzenesulphonate anions in MgAl-LDHs with systematically varied laver charge (i.e.. Mg/Al ratio) is studied. The orientation of the organic anions within the LDH interlayer is found to be strongly dependent upon the hydroxide layer charge.
