A commercial enzyme preparation with beta -galactosidase and cellulase activities catalyzed the synthesis of 6'-galactosyl lactose (18% yield) from lactose with a better selectivity (62%) for production of the product than thermostable enzymes and most mesophilic enzymes (32-43%).
