Correlations between boson peak strength and characteristics of local segmental relaxation in polymers
A correlation between the strength of the boson peak, R-1(T-g), and the ''fragility'' of glass-forming liquids proposed earlier is reanalyzed more exactly for polymers. New experimental data are included, making the correlation more evident for the family of polymers. An additional correlation between R-1(T-g) and the shape parameter beta of the Kohlrausch correlation function of the cu relaxation is shown to hold as well, With these results, the important connection of the boson peak to the glass transition dynamics has become more apparent.
