EXTENSIONAL RHEOMETRY OF FLUID S1
The fibre stretching device introduced by the authors is used to examine the extensional behaviour of S1. The fluid deforms uniformly in this instrument and the extensional stress growth is similar to that of other flexible polymer solutions, especially A1. The stresses become constant at a total strain of approximately 6 and the steady extensional viscosity obtained suggests that the fluid is extension-thinning at strain rates greater than 2 s-1.
