Molecular orientation of oligothiophene-based polyamide thin films fabricated by vapor deposition polymerization
We report the orientated polyamide thin films having oligothiophene segments in the main chain by a vapor deposition polymerization technique. The films were prepared by the condensation reaction between 2,2'-bithiophene-5,5'-dicarbonyl dichloride and alpha,omega-bis(aminomethyl)oligothiophene whose degree of polymerization are trimer and tetramer. X-Ray diffraction measurements indicate that the morphology of the films shows a regular crystalline, structure and the molecular axis is oblique against the substrate plane. The molecular orientation of the films strongly depends on the ratio of the vapor fluxes of the two reactants to be deposited.
