The quenching of laminar methane-air flames by water mists
The paper presents the results of a computational investigation of limiting water droplet and vapor concentrations, beyond which laminar methane-air flames are incapable of self-sustained propagation. The variation of laminar burning velocity with droplet size and number density has been investigated and the results compared with analytical predictions. Finally, the influence of added alkali salts on laminar burning velocity and flame inhibition is discussed.
