Paleocene volcano-clastic sequences in the Tuz Golu Basin, Central Anatolia, Turkey: An evolution of petroleum reservoir rock properties using logs
The Paleocene unit of the Karapinar-1/1A and -2/2A wells was studied by subsurface data in the Tuz Golu Basin. The Karapinar-1/1A well mainly consists of acidic, andesite, and dasite tuff levels, which was determined according to an M-N plot chart. In the Karapinar-2/2A well, dasite tuff is characteristic and some levels have rhyolite, glassy rhyolite tuff, and zeolite tuff properties. In the Karapinar field, formation water salinity is very high (150,000-200,000 ppm), causing low resistivity and porosity values. Petrophysical properties show that tuff sequence total porosity is between 9 and 20%, and the fracture structure indicates that tuff level should be a prospect for hydrocarbon exploration in the Tuz Golu Basin.
