Interpreting facies information from seismic amplitude data requires extensive and tedious work of an expert geologist or geophysicist. This process invites human inconsistencies into interpretations. To solve the problem, a neural-network-based automation method is proposed that learns how to relate seismic data to facies objects, such as channels.
