Small waves on the jet "intact length": Results using a new experimental technique
Small-amplitude waves forced by mechanical vibration of a near-inviscid, falling liquid jet were measured with a new laser-based technique. This technique allows the observation of waves too small to be detected by imaging, within the "intact length" of the jet. The results were compared to those predicted by the traditional linear inviscid theory, finding general agreement with it as well as significant areas of disagreement.
