Development of Gasoline Fuel Reformer for Fuel Cell Vehicles : WGS Reaction over Ni-and Pt- Loaded Cerium Oxide Catalysts
An emerging application for the Water Gas Shift (WGS) reaction is on-board purification and production of H2 for fuel cell powered vehicles. To develop a high performance WGS catalyst of an alternate LTS (Cu-Zn/Al2O3) catalyst, we have studied WGS reaction over Ni-Pt/Ceria catalysts. The performances of prepared catalysts were compared with these of a commercial LTS catalyst. It was found that Ni-Pt/Ceria catalysts were more active than the Cu-Zn/Al2O3 catalyst at a high temperature more than 250 ℃. The results demonstrate that Ni-Pt/Ceria catalysts are attractive candidates for development of the alternate LTS catalyst for automotive applications.
