Crystallization Kinetics of Pentaerythritol in a Batch Crystallizer
Kinetics of crystallization of pentaerythritol (PE) in aqueous solution were evaluated on the batch cooling crystallizer. The solubility and the nucleation kinetics of PE in aqueous solution were investigated. The effect of supersaturation, temperature and impurity content on the crystallization kinetics was investigated. A second order dependence of PE growth rate in pure PE-water system on supersaturation is observed. The crystal growth rate of PE-water system in the presence of impurity is proportional to the supersaturation to the 3.5 power.
