Synthesis of Propylene Carbonate from Carbon Dioxide and Propylene Oxide using Ionic Liquids
This study is related to the synthesis of propylene carbonate(PC) from carbon dioxide and propylene oxide(PO) without using any solvent in the pressure of ionic liquid as catalyst. The conversion of propylene oxide was affected by the structure of the ionic liquid; the one with the cation of bulkier alkyl chain length and with more nucleophilic anion showed better reactivity. The conversion of PO also increased as CO2 pressure and reaction temperature increased.
