Supercritical water oxidation of phenol in the presence of various carbonaceous materials was studied. Coconut shell activated carbon, bamboo charcoal, coke, graphite, and carbon fiber were used as the additives. As a result, all of the carbon additives examined were revealed to have a catalytic effect to promote the oxidative decomposition of phenol.
