A model of hydrostatic pressure loss in wells after cement placement
Hydrostatic pressure loss after cement placement is considered to be a cause of early gas migration. In high-pressure zones, hydrostatic pressure loss can lead to gas invasion and flow in the cemented annulus. The pressure-unloading model developed in the full-length paper was validated using data from published field experiments. The theoretical results matched experimental data showing an exponential trend in the downhole pressure loss.
