Adsorption properties of SO2 on PAN-based fibrous ion exchanger and its potential for air purification
E-mail:
The adsorption properties of sulfur dioxide over fibrous ion-exchangers were investigated to determine the effect produced by varying certain conditions, such as the SO2 concentration and flow rate and the water content of the ion-exchange fiber. In the batch experiment, the adsorption equilibrium was investigated on a fibrous ion-exchanger at room temperature and with different solution concentrations. To determine the adsorption rate constant of sulfur dioxide, continuous column tests were performed. A higher SO2 concentration and a higher flow rate gave rise to greater SO2 removal on the fibrous ion-exchanger. By comparing SEM micrographs before and after SO2 adsorption, the change of morphology of the fibrous ion-exchanger was observed. Also, the results of the regeneration tests showed that the fibrous ion-exchanger exhibited good durability.
