Use of multilateral technology to arrest production decline
ExxonMobil successfully drilled, completed, and produced a selectively high-pressure (rated for 8,000 psi) stimulated multilateral well, the Arch Benge No. 1. This use of multilateral technology is part of an initiative to use step-out and fit-for-purpose technologies to arrest production decline in the Parks Field Unit, west Texas. This well is a good example of using multilaterals as a fit-for-purpose technology to capture maximum reserves at minimal incremental cost.
