Assessing scale risks and uncertainties for subsea marginal-field development
The risks and uncertainties associated with scale control in new field developments can have a significant effect on field economics. This can be especially true for marginal subsea fields producing from areas with high barium concentrations in formation waters. Completion design and reservoir characteristics have a significant effect on the severity of the scaling potential and the ability to treat production wells effectively by conventional treatments. The full-length paper details the costs and risks for several alternatives to raw-seawater injection.
