Electrode phenomena of sodium diborate glass on biasing with a DC pulse train
A study was made on the electrical response of gold- or aluminum-anoded sodium diborate glass to biasing with a dc pulse train. The sharp positive and negative current peaks were observed at the onsets of biasing and off biasing, respectively. They were ascribed tentatively to be due to the formation and annihilation of polarization, caused by the motion of the remaining sodium ions in an insulating layer formed at the anode-glass interface. A comparison was made with the results obtained previously by the single-pulse method as well by the technique in the temperature domain. (C) 2004 The Electrochemical Society.
