Sulfur production units are a basic source of environmental pollution. at gas processing plants and oil refineries. Increasing attention has recently been focused on improving the Claus unit, including developing new processes for finishing of waste gases and creating new methods of processing sulfur- and hydrogen - containing gases to increase the environmental cleanness of sulfur production. In both cases, it is necessary to solve the problem of removing hydrogen sulfide from the liquid sulfur due to stiffening of environmental protection requirements, the expanding prospects for exportation of sulfur, and the necessity of ensuring its safe shipment and storage.
