Removal of Fe(CO)(5) from CO gas as detected by FTIR spectroscopy
FTIR spectroscopy has been used to detect iron pentacarbonyl, Fe(CO)(5), in carbon monoxide gas. The capability of PbO/gamma-Al2O3 as a compound to remove Fe(CO)(5) in CO gas was investigated using FTIR spectroscopy. The amount of iron pentacarbonyl in the CO gas was determined by spectroscopic means and by a complimentary technique based on the analysis of the iron content of spent PbO/gamma-Al2O3 particles.
