On asymmetry between superheating and supercooling in solid-liquid transitions: Landau models
We investigated the asymmetry between superheating and supercooling in solid-liquid transitions using two Landau-type models for the first-order phase transitions, the Landau-Devonshire and Landau-de Gennes models. The Landau models reproduced the asymmetric behavior described by the classical nucleation theory. (C) 2004 American Institute of Physics.
