The influence of side-chain and main-chain spacer lengths on the thermal and structural properties of diethanolamine based side-chain polyesters
A series of linear side-chain aliphatic polyesters have been synthesized from alpha-(bis(2-hydroxyethyl) amino)-omega-(4'-methoxybiphenyl-4-oxy) alkanes and aliphatic acid chlorides. The side-chain and main-chain spacer lengths were varied and their influences on thermal and structural properties of polyesters, as determined by DSC and X-ray diffraction, are discussed.
