Testing of iron oxide sorbent for high-temperature coal gas desulfurization
To increase the resistance to powering and durability of high temperature coal gas desulfurization sorbent over multiple absorption and regeneration cycles, a mixed clay was screened to add to sorbent prepared from red mud. This article reports the test results of laboratory-scale and bench-scale in fixed reactor with simulated Texaco coal gas. Fresh, sulfided and regenerated sorbents were characterized using many techniques. Almost no loss of sorbent was found in cycle in the reactor due to attrition. Experimental results revealed that the sorbent exhibited good performance in the respect of both sulfur capacity and durability.
