Monte Carlo simulation of drop dispersion behaviour
To check the equations for breakage and coalescence rates in turbulent dispersions a simulation program based on the Monte Carlo method has been written. The equations of Coulaloglou and Tavlarides (C.A. Coulaloglou, L.L. Tavlarides, Drop size distribution and coalescence frequencies of liquid-liquid dispersions in flow vessels, A.I.Ch.E. J. 22 (1976) 289) were compared to experimental data and the free parameters were recalculated by optimisation. Special values were necessary for each liquid system and setting.
