Future of pore-pressure prediction by use of geophysical methods
The art and science of pore pressure prediction has improved dramatically over the last 10 years with major advances in the areas of imaging and velocity analysis and in the theory of pore pressure in elastic basins. Pore-pressure predictions will include overburden and fracture gradients, basin analysis and modeling, prospect scale to constrain porosity and pressure regimes, fault-sealing characteristics, structure effects on pressure, and production-drive mechanisms.
