A project started in 1997 developed an intelligent completion system capable of measuring downhole multiphase flow rates, pressure and temperature conditions at two or more points along the well, and controlling fluid entry into the well by downhole flow-control devices. The flow-control system deployed in Wytch Farm Well F-22 in August 2000 was the first to be fully electrical.
