Next-generation visualization technologies for E&P
New capabilities bring considerable opportunities to improve productivity. More than ever, data possess tremendous value that can be harnessed by sophisticated algorithms and teraflop computing power. However, the ability to analyze this amount of information visually has not kept pace. Stereographic images are used to understand reservoir continuity better, but a 2D mouse is still used to manipulate this information. Recently, devices that function as a 3D mouse with the ability to edit 3D models have appeared. Feedback reinforcement by use of audio cues also is being developed.
