Effects of formulation variables on liquid-crystal droplet size distributions in ultraviolet-cured polymer-dispersed liquid-crystal cells
The size distributions of liquid-crystal droplets in ultraviolet-cured polymer-dispersed liquid-crystal cells have been studied with optical microscopy. lt has been observed that (1) the relative masses of the liquid crystal and crosslinking agent determine the droplet size distribution for submicrometer droplet diameters and (2) only the liquid-crystal mass fraction affects the droplet size distribution for diameters ranging from 1 to 4 pm.
