Optimal operation of moving-bed reactor for CVD coating of fine particles
The performance of a moving-bed reactor is investigated for CVD coating of fine particles in the form of agglomerates. A comprehensive mathematical model is set up to explore the simulation and optimal operation of the CVD coating. Then, the adoption of the process conditions and the agglomerate structural parameters is discussed with the aim of maximizing the uniformity of coating deposits in the radial direction of the agglomerate at a desired coating ratio. The required coating ratio is revealed to be attained by decreasing the solids discharge rate, and by increasing the gas flow rate and the inlet concentration of the gas precursor at minimal admissible reaction temperature. A more uniform radial distribution of the deposits inside the agglomerate can be obtained by using smaller loosely packed agglomerates made of larger primary particles.
