The experimental analysis of correlation errors in the paper tensile specimen containing a strain raiser
The correlation error in experimental mechanics area indicates how well two subsets, one from undeformed image, the other from deformed image, match. In this study, using a correlation function of which the correlation error value was unity minus the normalized cross-correlation, the correlation error distribution around the hole in the paper tensile specimen at three different load levels was obtained experimentally. The results of the correlation error appeared to show the unique characteristics of deformation around the central hole, a strain raiser in uniaxially loaded tension paper specimen and ensure the accuracy of the strain measuring technique.
